What is Galliano Autentico?

Galliano is a bright yellow herbal liqueur with a distinct and complex flavor profile. It originated in Italy and was created by Arturo Vaccari in 1896. The liqueur is known for its vibrant color and a blend of herbs, spices, and other botanicals.

The exact recipe for Galliano is a closely guarded secret, but some of the commonly known ingredients include Mediterranean anise, juniper, musk yarrow, star anise, lavender, peppermint, cinnamon, and vanilla. These ingredients contribute to its aromatic and herbal qualities.

Galliano is often characterized by its sweet and herbal taste, with a hint of vanilla and anise. It has a unique and bold flavor that makes it a distinctive ingredient in cocktails. The liqueur gained popularity in the mid-20th century and became a key component in classic cocktails like the Harvey Wallbanger #wallbanger

This week’s tip: The wonderful world of Citrus!

Here are the varieties that are in season and options you should try this citrus season!

You have your basics which you’ll see year round: your navel oranges, lemons, and limes

Most notable during citrus season that you’ll want to get before it’s too late:

  • Cara Cara oranges, these almost have a pink hue to them

  • Blood Oranges and raspberry oranges, those bright red innards

  • Grapefruit and Pomelo’s, you’ll see grapefrouts throughout but trust they taste the best now

  • Kumquats, those mini citrus fruits you can eat… skin and all

  • Mandarins, clementines, and tangerines

LAST TIP: when buying citrus at the store FEEL THEM, it’s true! Give a light squeeze, it should give slightly aka the juice is loose LOL and they should look bright and shiny. If it’s dull in color, hard to the squeeze, it’s best to put back as it won’t be the juiciest of the bunch.
