A lil backstory of today’s cocktail
The Brandy Crusta is a classic cocktail with a rich history, often credited as one of the earliest examples of what we now think of as the modern cocktail. It was invented in New Orleans in the mid-19th century by Joseph Santini, a bartender at the renowned Jewel of the South. The drink’s creation dates back to around the 1850s and stands out as an innovative twist on the brandy cocktails of the time.
The Name
The term "Crusta" refers to the signature lemon peel that rims the glass, creating a “crust” around the edge. This presentation was novel at the time and set the drink apart. It's also served with a sugared rim, a technique that became iconic but was less common back then, adding a visual and sensory appeal that made the drink feel more luxurious.
TIP: @czouby What else can I use Amaro Nonino for aside for a paper plane?
