A lil backstory of today’s cocktail
The Gimlet cocktail has a fascinating history, believed to have originated in the late 19th century. It was popularized by British naval officers, who mixed gin with lime juice as a remedy to prevent scurvy, thanks to the vitamin C in limes. The classic recipe is traditionally made with equal parts gin and lime cordial (often Rose's Lime Juice), although modern versions tend to use fresh lime juice and simple syrup for a more balanced, refreshing flavor. The Gimlet gained broader popularity in the mid-20th century, becoming a symbol of simplicity and sophistication in cocktail culture.
TIP: @thebarintern wants to know the best way to mix a cocktail and not bruise the gin.
